I came to yoga for the poses, I wanted to be flexible and make beautiful shapes with my body. I attended community classes in a variety of different styles and quickly realized there was so much more to this then Asana! My body felt more free and open, my mind was more focused, my strength and flexibility increased and I was hooked. The more I learn about this ancient tradition, the more I realize how much I don’t know. Yoga is my way back to center, to self. A way to shed the layers of conditioning and routine to reveal my truth and what is important. Over and over again. I feel like I am on an incredible journey with destination, back to source.
As a teacher, I love to offer challenge. I want my students to know that there is always something more on the table. This yoga thing is a life long journey, a constant unraveling, self inquiry, invitation for growth, and nurturing a system that can bring you back to balance when things in life get wild. When the practice starts to transfer over to life off your yoga matt, I know it is working.
I have been teaching yoga for 8 years now in a variety of environments. My work has greatly revolved around teaching Vinyasa flow and power yoga classes, in a studio setting. I have also been active in teen programs, girls empowerment groups, yoga for athletes, and working with sport specific groups. I have a very athletic back ground and this has helped me gain insight on what might be most potent and helpful for a particular group.
My background in music has brought me to the realm of sound healing. I love to incorporate vibrational sound medicine practices into my yoga classes, as well as offer meditation and sound bath workshops, moon circles and workshops with specific themes where we dive deep into the energies of the month.
I love the mystery and the mystical. I strive for connection, to nature, to spirit, to my soul and my purpose for this life time. I am a life long student as I have a deep curiosity and thirst for knowledge and adventure. I will always explore new modalities, integrate teachings, and allow this to trickle over into my work of offering unique experiences. I hope your path will cross mine soon and we can take this journey together.
Love,
Alicia
